CARTA OnDemand is a pilot program in partnership with rideshare companies Uber and Lyft that serves seniors and Tel-A-Ride paratransit customers throughout the designated CARTA fixed-route service area. The enhanced level of service offered through CARTA OnDemand makes traveling easier for those who most need assistance and includes direct, on-demand service Mon-Fri 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Trips can cost as little as $5 each way (For seniors). CARTA subsidizes (or pays for) the remaining amount up to $14. With the expanded area, total trip cost may increase. The customer is responsible for any amount over the subsidized $14. Trip cost is determined by distance of trip. CARTA cannot control the surge prices and times. Customers will be advised of the total cost of the trip before accepting .
- Rides can be scheduled with as little as one-hour notice.
- CARTA OnDemand is offered in addition to the existing Tel-A-Ride services.
- Riders requiring wheelchair accessibility will need to call Tel-A-Ride reservations at 843-745-4101 (Opt. 1). The customer must state that they are a current Tel-A-Ride customer, that they require wheelchair access and that they are requesting CARTA OnDemand service.
