8:30 a.m.: Most routes are at full service or will be shortly. Only Route 203 Medical Shuttle will not run today.
6:50 a.m.: Buses have returned to the CARTA bus yard from off-site hurricane staging and drivers are performing pre-trip inspections. Rollout anticipated to begin at 7 a.m.
HURRICANE DORIAN UPDATE 4
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (Sept. 5, 2019, 9 p.m.) –
- CARTA will resume operations Friday, Sept. 6, as fleet vehicles are returned from off-site hurricane stationing.
- Morning service will be impacted as local officials work to clear roadways and return power to traffic signals. Anticipate heavy delays in the morning.
- Dominion Energy is also currently working to restore power to the CARTA dispatch center.
- Regular bus ervice is expected to be fully restored by noon.

HURRICANE DORIAN UPDATE 3
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (Sept. 4, 2019, 4 p.m.) –

CARTA will suspend all operations, including the Hurricane Evacuation Peninsula Circulator, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, as previously planned, in anticipation of hazardous weather conditions.

Service will remain suspended until further notice and will resume as directed by state and local officials.
HURRICANE DORIAN UPDATE 2
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (Sept. 3, 2019, 2 p.m.) –
CARTA will operate a Hurricane Evacuation Peninsula Circulator until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Riders are asked to be at stops with blue hurricane evacuation signs by 6 p.m.for pickup and transportation to Charleston County shelters.
CARTA will operate a Hurricane Evacuation Peninsula Circulator from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
Shuttle service could be impacted if winds reach 30 miles per hour or greater. Regular CARTA service is remains suspended until further notice.

HURRICANE DORIAN UPDATE 1
North Charleston, S.C. (Sept. 2, 2019, Noon) –
- CARTA will suspend regular operations at 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2 until further notice.
- The system will operate on a Sunday schedule until 8 p.m. Monday. This was previously planned due to the Labor Day holiday.
- In addition to regular service, CARTA will run a Hurricane Evacuation Peninsula Circulator from noon – 7 p.m. on Sept. 2 and again from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The circulator will service 14 downtown stops with blue Hurricane Evacuation signs.

We encourage riders to prepare for Hurricane Dorian now and make any necessary trips as soon as possible. If and when service is going to be impacted, we will share details on social media and with the news media.
